Desperate MCA says DAP is being too Chinese

In an ironic attack against Pakatan Rakyat, MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek slammed the DAP for being a mono-ethnic party.

In his presidential address at the 58th MCA Annual General Assembly yesterday, Chua said the DAP was hiding behind the guise of a multi-racial party. “The DAP will continue to package itself as a multi-racial party, hiding its true colours as a mono-ethnic party.”

It sounds like MCA and Chua is now overly desperate of wanting to take our people's attention away from the Barisan Nasional (BN)'s current ethnic-based component parties, like Umno, MCA and MIC by instead labelling the DAP of being too Chinese.

Chua also accused DAP of only focusing its strength only a Chinese-based constituencies. It shows that he knows nothing about the many constituencies currently being held by DAP and he has been ill-advised on this matter too.

First, DAP's strength lies not only in Chinese majority constituencies, but the party also represents many mixed-ethnic constituencies, with many of its state assemblymen and members of parliament from different ethnic backgrounds. Currently, DAP also has a Malay senator and many more Malay party leaders in both central, state and grassroots levels.

Eventhough DAP is now serving in most of the Chinese majority constituencies, its service level is not only limited to the ethnic Chinese but they also serve all other ethnics regardless of their race, religion or cultural backgrounds. The party has been steadfastly upholding the Malaysian Malaysia concept by championing the cause of all Malaysians.

Until now, what can MCA prove to our people? Until today, MCA is still Chinese-based, its state assemblymen and members of parliament are still being staffed by only Chinese. In their meetings, they only speak Chinese, in their daily administration and affairs, it is still being communicated in Chinese, their documentations, letters, magazines and even their websites are still in Chinese and lastly they only serve the Chinese people in their constituencies and worst still, it is not all the Chinese that they are serving, as the factionalism in MCA is still strong.

MCA is still divided very clear and openly, even of the party leaders were to deny it, their party grassroots members had never deny the fact that their party is still split. A few strong factions are still running the party in areas where they are in control.

Because of such a wide factionalism in the party, MCA was not being able to contest and win in most the Chinese majority constituencies because their own MCA members would not even vote for their party candidates if they do not belong to their respective factions.

That is why most of their top leaders preferred to avoid any risk of contesting in Chinese majority areas by opting instead in constituencies where the Chinese are minority and the Malays are majority because they do not have the confidence to win them.

Therefore, if you claim yourselves to be MCA representing the Chinese community, but you only prefer to contest in constituencies where there are no Chinese majority at all, how can you claim that you are an effective representative of the Chinese community in Malaysia?

Furthermore, when Umno had become overly radical and racist in their policies by putting up their so-called "ketuananhood" over the other ethnics, MCA did nothing to stop this nor did they send any strong protest against the rise of radical racism and dominance by Umno in the BN coalition. What about all those unjust and imbalance government policies towards the ethnic Chinese?

This shows that they are not as effective as they claim. MCA leaders are mere stooges working under the arms and legs of Umno.

And when DAP managed to stand up for all Malaysians, including the ethnic Chinese, you got too upset as all your seats had went over to them. Remember, it was the voters who had made their choice on which political party should represent them and it is not for MCA at all to judge DAP in such a way.

Because of MCA's ineffectiveness, our people has decided to choose DAP, PKR and PAS regardless of these party ideologies because MCA is voiceless and no longer relevant in the BN anymore.

So, MCA should not blame DAP for its losses. Chua should not be so big-headed and he ought to look at mirror first before firing a lifeless salvo onto others. We didn't know that you are not only a very good porn actor but you are also a very good joker.

EC should ask ROS to register Pakatan quickly

The Election Commission (EC) had recently advised the current opposition pact, Pakatan Rakyat comprising PAS, PKR and DAP, to register their coalition so that they could use their logo in the coming general election. EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the coalition should be registered because the opposition parties were always seen violating regulations of the election campaign, especially on the use of their logo. Datuk Wan Ahmad seems to be overly ignorant and too forgetful on this issue. The EC deputy chairman should ask the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to quickly register the Pakatan instead of calling on Pakatan to register itself. Pakatan Rakyat had earlier send in their formal application to register itself as a coalition of political parties since November 2009 and ROS has yet to register the said entity till today after delaying and creating so many hassles for more than a year. USM fiasco a shame

I read and heard with irritation and felt disgusted with the fiasco committed by the apex status university called Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which caused untold anguish to the affected students and their parents. If this happened in Japan, the Vice-Chancellor would have done the honourable thing - take full responsibilty and leave, but here in Malaysia, as expected, the blame is shifted here and there, trying to make someone a scapegoat. By the way, would there be any racist or sabotage elements involved? Those who are responsible for this fiasco should be sacked or expelled immediately.

Federal Constitution that Safeguards the Legitimate Rights and Interest of All Malaysians

The provisions of the Federal Constitution are very clear. It confirmed the position of the Malay Rulers, Islam as an official religion of the federation and special position of the Malays and the natives in Sabah and Sarawak whilst recalling that those provisions balance those special positions with safeguards to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the other communities in Malaysia which also includes their right to profess and practice their religions freely without being fear of any threats or being harmed by anybody. The legitimate interests of the non-Malays and non-Muslims would include, amongst others: a) Article 153 (9) says that business or trade cannot be solely reserved only for the Malays, b) Article 3 (1) says that the official religion of the federation is Islam BUT other religions are also allowed to be practiced in peace and harmony in any part of the federation.
