A bullet to Prof Aziz from the sultan's man

In the name of the sultan, a guy who claimed to be a die hard supporter and advocate of the sultan delivered an envelope with a bullet inside to Univerisiti Islam Antarabangsa (UIA) Law Professor Dr Abdul Aziz Bari recently.

The sender of the bullet in the name of the sultan indeed knew the whereabouts of the UIA constitutional expert and that is why the bullet went directly to his residence.

What the sender didn't realize or should we better say the sender is indeed in a denial mode, that sending a bullet to Dr Aziz in the name and defense of the sultan is far more a greater insult to the constitutional monarch. By doing such thing, it is not protecting the sultan but accusing them of allowing such criminal act to be carried out.

If it is treated politically, we could consider such act as political terrorism. Perhaps we could also consider this sender or whoever he is as an insane fanatic who had deliberately unable to accept the fact that the monarch in this country are indeed clearly mentioned as constitutional.

Besides, the constitutional monarch system is not just like that. It is not above the Federal Constitution as well. This unique constitutional monarch system and institution itself is clearly being governed by statures as mentioned in the Federal Constitution and in addition, where in any action of the monarch disallow them to act in contravene of the Federal Constitution and should this happens their actions will be scrutinized under the statutory proceedings in Part XV under the Federal Constitution.

Guess who created the Part XV of the Federal Constitution which had in fact broke open the Rulers' immunity? Yes, everyone knows it was Umno under the leadership of the then party president Dr Mahathir Mohamed who at that time engineered strings of efforts to limit the powers and the roles of the Rulers.

So, with the amendments to the Federal Constitution which had clearly defined the limitation of the Rulers and our people's right to refer and discuss the Rulers' subject in public, how can this "in defense of the Sultan" bullet sender claim that Dr Aziz had "menderhaka" or committed treason against the Ruler.

Well, accept the fact that this is a democratic nation and everyone of us has our rights to check, balance, discuss or even criticize in public the "titah" or comments made by Rulers on condition that these subjects in discussion would not call for the overthrow of the Rulers.

At least even if we are still able to check, balance, discuss or even criticize in public the various "titah" or comments made by Rulers, we still accord and give due respect to these Rulers because they are the symbol who uphold the Federal Constitution, they are above politics and performing their role Heads of State and the nation as well.

Therefore, our advise to all these ill-advised fanatics or bullet senders, please get a copy of the Federal Constitution, read it and understand the contents first before you make the foolish or idiotic moves.

We knew that the police wouldn't even care to take up this case nor check on such criminal act because the bullet sender is the sultan's protector.

We think that the Sultan of Selangor should come out and speak up without fear and favour on such case as until todate, none of the Rulers or even the Majlis Raja-Raja has yet to come forward to condemn such act in the name of the Rulers.

Unless if you are being tightly confined by Umno.

The Election Commission (EC) had recently advised the current opposition pact, Pakatan Rakyat comprising PAS, PKR and DAP, to register their coalition so that they could use their logo in the coming general election. EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the coalition should be registered because the opposition parties were always seen violating regulations of the election campaign, especially on the use of their logo. Datuk Wan Ahmad seems to be overly ignorant and too forgetful on this issue. The EC deputy chairman should ask the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to quickly register the Pakatan instead of calling on Pakatan to register itself. USM fiasco a shame

I read and heard with irritation and felt disgusted with the fiasco committed by the apex status university called Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which caused untold anguish to the affected students and their parents. If this happened in Japan, the Vice-Chancellor would have done the honourable thing - take full responsibilty and leave, but here in Malaysia, as expected, the blame is shifted here and there, trying to make someone a scapegoat. By the way, would there be any racist or sabotage elements involved? Those who are responsible for this fiasco should be sacked or expelled immediately.

Federal Constitution that Safeguards the Legitimate Rights and Interest of All Malaysians

The provisions of the Federal Constitution are very clear. It confirmed the position of the Malay Rulers, Islam as an official religion of the federation and special position of the Malays and the natives in Sabah and Sarawak whilst recalling that those provisions balance those special positions with safeguards to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the other communities in Malaysia which also includes their right to profess and practice their religions freely without being fear of any threats or being harmed by anybody. The legitimate interests of the non-Malays and non-Muslims would include, amongst others: a) Article 153 (9) says that business or trade cannot be solely reserved only for the Malays, b) Article 3 (1) says that the official religion of the federation is Islam BUT other religions are also allowed to be practiced in peace and harmony in any part of the federation.
