Seizure of 35,000 Malay language Bibles - another 1Malaysia project

The seizure of 35,000 copies of the Malay language Bibles in Port Klang and Kuching Port recently had angered the Christian communities here as well as in Sabah and Sarawak.

What was the reason of the seizure? Yes, certainly it is because of the word "Allah" being used in these Malay language Bibles. Because the Umno-led BN federal government fears that these Malay language Bibles could influence the Malay community and Umno members as well to leave Islam and to convert to Christianity.

The policy of mass seizure of these Malay language Bibles and the banning on the use of the word "Allah" by the authorities clearly indicates the suppression of other religions in this nation by the Umno regime who wanted to make clear that its policies does outdo the one from PAS, its arch rival for support and votes from the Malay community.

We want to ask all these Umno leaders. Are you all Muslims are so overly weak in your will that you would fear of an immediate conversion to Christianity after reading the Malay language Bibles?

Did the Quran ever mention that Islam is a supreme religion that possess supreme authority to control other religions. Did the Quran ever mention that all other religions should bow to the superiority of Islam. Did the Prophet dictate all these nonsense? Show us the proves and its records, please!

What we knew is the Prophet or should we say Nabi Muhammad s.a.w. preaches the Islamic doctrine and its way of live to promote respect to each of everyone of us, equality amongst other religions. The truth in Islam is this religion treats and respects the existence of other religions in its neighbourhood.

The banning on the use of the word "Allah" is not an act of Islam and it is clearly not Islamic at all. The creation or instituting of laws in the name of Islam in order to ban this or to ban that, to reign supreme over the others are all done by men who claimed themselves to be specialized in their religion and they are not constituted based on the Quranic verses.

The other weird thing is, why are all those Christian leaders in the BN government so timidly quiet and didn't even dare say a word to protect the interest of their communities?

Where are the BN Christian leaders of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), United Pasok-Momugun Kadazan-Dusun Organization (Upko), Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP), Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP), Sabah Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu (PBB)?

All of them are so timid, coward and scared. They did not stand out together in full force to oppose the seizure of the holy books mean for their communities. They are only interested in polishing and licking the shoes of their respective "supreme" leaders and hoping their political positions would remain in their hands forever. They are all powerless!

Remember, the upcoming Sarawak state elections. This is the only hope for our people.

EC should ask ROS to register Pakatan quickly

The Election Commission (EC) had recently advised the current opposition pact, Pakatan Rakyat comprising PAS, PKR and DAP, to register their coalition so that they could use their logo in the coming general election. EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the coalition should be registered because the opposition parties were always seen violating regulations of the election campaign, especially on the use of their logo. Datuk Wan Ahmad seems to be overly ignorant and too forgetful on this issue. The EC deputy chairman should ask the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to quickly register the Pakatan instead of calling on Pakatan to register itself. USM fiasco a shame

I read and heard with irritation and felt disgusted with the fiasco committed by the apex status university called Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which caused untold anguish to the affected students and their parents. If this happened in Japan, the Vice-Chancellor would have done the honourable thing - take full responsibilty and leave, but here in Malaysia, as expected, the blame is shifted here and there, trying to make someone a scapegoat. By the way, would there be any racist or sabotage elements involved? Those who are responsible for this fiasco should be sacked or expelled immediately.

Singapore Malay daily teaches Mahathir about hardwork

The former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's assumption that Malays in Singapore had failed and their neighbouring Malays should take lesson from their plight has not impressed a Singaporean daily. The republic's Malay daily Berita Harian in an editorial said Malay-Muslims in the republic state were successful and it was a result of their real efforts and hard work in line with the values of meritocracy, not a result of being spoon-fed. “We do not believe in being spoon-fed or being too dependent on the government - in other words, we do not have a crutch mentality,' wrote editor Guntor Sadali.
