Military to be used to crush the opposition?

Today's Star newspapers reflects that the defense minister and Umno vice-president Datuk "Dr" Zahid Hamidi vowed to crush the opposition with the military force under his charge.

In the report Zahid also accused the opposition leaders of trying to stage an uprising to topple the Umno-led BN federal government and he had instructed the military's army, air force and naval intelligence to be on alert and keep watch on the opposition leaders.

Zahid, however refused to name who were the opposition leaders whom he claimed are involved in the plan to stage an uprising and a possible coup d'etat here. Looks like Zahid is playing with big fire, but he blamed the opposition leaders of playing the fire instead.

The Umno leader who is also the defense minister is indeed manipulating the military to his and Umno's advantage.

When Umno launched a violent but yet to be bloody coup d'etat to overthrow the Perak state government of the then Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin in 2009, Zahid mobilized some of the military units based in the state to assist the police force to keep the Pakatan Rakyat state legislative assemblymen from convening the state legislative assembly until the Umno rebel state government was installed by the Sultan.

Zahid is truly a Malaysian equivalent of the Nazi Germany's Reichmarshal Hermann Goering. He is now using the military to serve the interest of Umno, like what Goering had did for the Nazi Party.

As he had issued a threat to use the military force against the opposition, will in future the Umno-led BN federal government use the army to stage a coup d'etat against the opposition if the BN were to lose in the next general election?

We wouldn't know, only he will know that as he is the defense minister and he also vowed to defend the prime minister and Umno president Datuk Najib Razak to death.

We wonder who is going to "kill" Najib, and what Zahid is going to "protect" Najib from. Perhaps Zahid should further and clearly elaborate what are the elements that is threatening the national security. Or it is just threatening the political and financial interests of Umno and its leaders?

Zahid, if you are truly responsible, you should name those opposition leaders who are involve in the planned coup d'etat to "overthrow" your beloved federal government that you would serve to death or else you are just another liar and terrorist trying to bring terror and instill fear onto our people.

Don't think that we are fools like you are. All a sudden you had a doctorate in front of your name and we wonder how much public money have you spend to buy from an unpopular university situated in an island in the pacific ocean! And you want us to believe that you are a genius?

And if you were to really use the military against our people in future, the real uprising will come right to the front of your door. So, do not play with fire!

EC should ask ROS to register Pakatan quickly

The Election Commission (EC) had recently advised the current opposition pact, Pakatan Rakyat comprising PAS, PKR and DAP, to register their coalition so that they could use their logo in the coming general election. EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the coalition should be registered because the opposition parties were always seen violating regulations of the election campaign, especially on the use of their logo. Datuk Wan Ahmad seems to be overly ignorant and too forgetful on this issue. The EC deputy chairman should ask the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to quickly register the Pakatan instead of calling on Pakatan to register itself. Pakatan Rakyat had earlier send in their formal application to register itself as a coalition of political parties since November 2009 and ROS has yet to register the said entity till today after delaying and creating so many hassles for more than a year. USM fiasco a shame

I read and heard with irritation and felt disgusted with the fiasco committed by the apex status university called Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which caused untold anguish to the affected students and their parents. If this happened in Japan, the Vice-Chancellor would have done the honourable thing - take full responsibilty and leave, but here in Malaysia, as expected, the blame is shifted here and there, trying to make someone a scapegoat. By the way, would there be any racist or sabotage elements involved? Those who are responsible for this fiasco should be sacked or expelled immediately.

Singapore Malay daily teaches Mahathir about hardwork

The former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's assumption that Malays in Singapore had failed and their neighbouring Malays should take lesson from their plight has not impressed a Singaporean daily.
