A fool would insist that Malaysia is an absolute monarchy

Despite shown in the federal and state constitutions, some pro-Umno and BN lawyers who claimed themselves to be "legal experts" kept on insisting that the Sultan has the powers as a chief executive in the state. They are insisting that this nation is an absolute monarchy.

And there it goes, come the same old subject of labelling this person and that person as "penderhaka" or treasonous. Now Umno and BN leaders, including those extremist NGOs aligned to the racist party had came out in full force to condemn the Selangor state government as treason, calling for the death of some state leaders who made accurate statements pertaining to the state establishment.

The sole purpose of such move, was certainly based on racism. Remember, Utusan Malaysia in its recent article called on the Malays to rise and defend the state from the alleged "intervention from the Chinese government".

Then Umno, BN, and the extremist NGOs like Perkasa and GAPS leaders called on the Malays to rise and fight the Selangor state government elected by the people on March 2008 and kill all those who question and criticize any royal statements (actually not from the Sultan himself).

Can't you see? All these actions are clearly a work of those "penderhaka" or treasonous. Why isn't the police taking any action against all these bunch of politically insane leaders who were out there to create hatred, tension and chaos? Because they are all Umno or BN linked?

Let us stress this again. Umno is using all its ways and means to twist the constitutional logic to confuse the people, especially the Malay community in order to provoke anger and hate against the other ethnic communities. Umno is telling the Malay community that what Selangor currently have is a "Chinese state government" (often referred that PKR and PAS were powerless administrators and the DAP who is the one powerful in behind scene).

And the actual fact is, Malaysia is a democratic nation where the real executive power comes from the election by the people. And that is the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) and not the Sultans. The Sultans do not contest in elections. The Sultans do not win or would not be defeated in elections. Only politicians would contest, win or lose in elections.

If all those pro-Umno and BN leaders, "legal experts" or whatever they could call or claim themselves to be what are still insisting that Sultans are chief executives in their respective states, it would mean there is no democracy at all in our nation. Menteris Besar and Chief Ministers would be only a sort of figureheads and powerless.

Can all those racist and extremist leaders please prove which part or provision in the federal and state constitution that mention the royal rulers does have absolute powers over the governments of the day?

Only a fool would insist that our nation is an absolute monarchy. Yes, only 1Malaysia, 1Umno and 1BN would insist that.

This is just another 1Malaysia project advocated by Najib and Umno.

EC should ask ROS to register Pakatan quickly

The Election Commission (EC) had recently advised the current opposition pact, Pakatan Rakyat comprising PAS, PKR and DAP, to register their coalition so that they could use their logo in the coming general election. EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the coalition should be registered because the opposition parties were always seen violating regulations of the election campaign, especially on the use of their logo. Datuk Wan Ahmad seems to be overly ignorant and too forgetful on this issue. USM fiasco a shame

I read and heard with irritation and felt disgusted with the fiasco committed by the apex status university called Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which caused untold anguish to the affected students and their parents. If this happened in Japan, the Vice-Chancellor would have done the honourable thing - take full responsibilty and leave, but here in Malaysia, as expected, the blame is shifted here and there, trying to make someone a scapegoat. By the way, would there be any racist or sabotage elements involved? Those who are responsible for this fiasco should be sacked or expelled immediately.

Federal Constitution that Safeguards the Legitimate Rights and Interest of All Malaysians

The provisions of the Federal Constitution are very clear. It confirmed the position of the Malay Rulers, Islam as an official religion of the federation and special position of the Malays and the natives in Sabah and Sarawak whilst recalling that those provisions balance those special positions with safeguards to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the other communities in Malaysia which also includes their right to profess and practice their religions freely without being fear of any threats or being harmed by anybody. The legitimate interests of the non-Malays and non-Muslims would include, amongst others: a) Article 153 (9) says that business or trade cannot be solely reserved only for the Malays, b) Article 3 (1) says that the official religion of the federation is Islam BUT other religions are also allowed to be practiced in peace and harmony in any part of the federation.
