Leave gracefully, Tsu Koon told

For the past few weeks, we indeed witnessed a lots of bashing from various corners on the Gerakan president and PMD minister Dr Koh Tsu Koon.

And then he is on full defensive mode hitting back at all his detractors despite so many evidence being produced on his past under performing governance in Penang.

Ever since the political tsunami in last March 2008 which saw the Gerakan-led Penang state government being totally swept aside, the Gerakan president has yet to fulfill his pledges and promises to rejuvenate the party for its massive losses suffered.

In fact, Dr Koh had broken all his promises instead, with the first critical one when he pledged not to accept any backdoor ministerial appointment until he rebuild his party, and later decided to accept the senatorial appointment and a ministerial position right after Umno president Najib Razak took helm of the country's premiership.

And since then, he never look at his demoralized party anymore. This resulted to some minor revolts in Gerakan's Selangor and a major one in Penang which saw a no-confidence vote being initiated against his ally state chairman Dr Teng Hock Nan.

Dr Koh has however, managed to quashed all those revolts with ease putting to the fact that no one in the central committee had ever dare to speak up on his ineffectiveness for fear of losing their party posts and other privileges in the government.

Dr Koh has went on to officiate so many state Gerakan annual delegate conferences nationwide for the past few weeks and the party members had attended the conference to hear what is current plans to revive the party but only instead hearing Dr Koh hitting back to many of his detractors for the whole day long.

Gerakan members were all indeed disappointed when Dr Koh failed to unleash his plans to revive the party's strength in so many meetings and dinners held. The latest one was in Penang where a dinner was held at the party's headquarters in Jalan Macalister, Penang. Scores of party members turned up but only to hear his condemnations after condemnations on all his former colleagues' critics.

Aside getting all the bashing up from his former party comrades, Dr Koh has also being seen as unresponsive on previous attacks by Umno leaders from all levels, as well as threats from various radically terror and extreme Malay rights groups of which had then painted a clearer picture of his ineffectiveness and being overly subservient to Umno's supremacy.

Besides, after the Penang dinner, journalists tried to forward questions to Dr Koh on his party's revival plan but he snubbed all of them instead. Then one energetic reporter then raised her tone and asked "you want us to help, but didn't want to talk. So, how can we help?" And Dr Koh continue to walked away.

All the party leaders present were dumb, citing no comment status at the moment. It seems that these party leaders were also clueless of their party president's plans and the future of Gerakan.

Yes, Dr Koh might have been clueless on how to rebuild or to revive the party himself. Earlier, he has already stated to the press of his intention not to contest in Penang in the next general elections. In fact confirmed reports also indicated that Dr Koh had also sold off his property (where he was staying) and moved his entire family to Kuala Lumpur for good.

But he is still the chairman of the Penang BN state committee and concurrently chairman of the Gerakan's Wilayah Persekutuan state liaison committee. This shows that Dr Koh cannot even state a stand of his own on where he should contest or base now.

Since Dr Koh is still clueless about his plans for the party, the grassroots members are uncertain, confused, loss and demoralizing and when all these happens, Gerakan's future is at stake.

As such, Dr Koh should gracefully bow out from his party presidency as soon as possible instead of being voted out disgracefully by the party national delegates if the party were to suffer another round of dismal in the next general elections.

Otherwise, the party's foundation built by the late Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu and Tun Dr Lim Keng Yaik would be gone forever. By the way Keng Yaik, you had picked a wrong successor. You are at fault too when the party is currently sinking.

Again Dr Koh, if you love Gerakan, leave the party presidency for good.
