Umno also interfered in Chinese and Hindu temples

Well, the mosques election in Penang initiated by the state religious council (MAIPP) has been put off on the instruction of the King recently. This was confirmed by the MAIPP president Elias Zakaria yesterday after a meeting with the King.

Thanks to Umno who managed to instigate and convince the King that DAP and the Chinese were interfering in the management of all the mosques in the Penang state. Until today, Umno still failed to provide any concrete evidence to show that DAP and the Chinese had deliberately interfered in the management of mosques in Penang and yet that man choose to be influenced and instigated by Umno to make such a decision. He failed to make the judgment based on wisdom.

Okay, since Umno said that the Chinese have been interfering in the management of all the mosques in Penang, we would also like to say that Umno also interfered in the managements of the Chinese and Hindu temples in Penang.

The interference of Umno in the managements of Chinese and Hindu temples in Penang were during the BN's rule in Penang were rampant. During the annual general meetings and elections of management committees in both the Chinese and Hindu temples, Umno was widely seen to have interfered in a way that to ensure that only their appointees and preferred candidates are elected to the temples' management committee every year.

With this, pro-Umno leaders put to take charge of these Chinese and Hindu temples, Umno would enjoy their support and land acquisitions on these temple locations would be no problem as these pro-Umno temple leaders would normally give way for that.

Any complaints or grievances by members or devotees of these temples were normally shot down or covered up by these pro-Umno temple committee members. As such, you could see during the BN's reign in the Penang state, there are always several religious issues that remained unresolved as the result of these ineffective pro-Umno temple committees who choose to keep silence due to their stamp by Umno.

As MCA, Gerakan and MIC leaders are powerless, Umno got the opportunities to make use of their grassroots leaders to sit in various temple committees or to chair them as well so that these temples could receive all instructions from Umno with ease.

In order to shut them out on any complaints or grievances of the temples, these temple committee members were normally awarded fat and handsome allowances and allocations in order to keep them to toe their line.

So, when Umno said sit and these temples would have to listen and sit and they say stand these temple would also have to do the same, so that their temple would stay safe. If these temples were to elect an opposing leader or members to be in their committees, than they would risk being demolished or torn down by Umno and its dominated authorities.

We are glad that in the last general elections, the people of Penang had shown Umno the door and they are now no more in the state administration. Chinese and Hindu temples in the state now enjoy their freedom in managing their state of affairs without being fear of being interfered or dictated by Umno anymore.

By the way, we are still waiting for Umno's submission of evidence that shows DAP and the Chinese did interfered in the management and affairs of the mosques in the Penang state.
