An ungrateful MCA and its ineffectiveness

MCA Youth has accused the DAP of exploiting the controversy over the annual award of public scholarships by the Public Service Department (PSD) to outstanding students.

MCA Youth secretary-general Chai Kim Sen said the opposition party was only good at instigation to curry favour with voters but had so far failed to propose solutions to the annual problem.

We would like to ask the MCA youth secretary-general, what does he mean by instigation to curry favour with voters? DAP was doing what is best in order to get the attention from the federal government, particularly the education ministry to resolve this issue.

And when DAP has brought up this issue in public for the attention of the education ministry, the MCA being part of the federal government was so ungrateful but instead accused DAP of exploiting the matter.

So Chai, since you had already mentioned that this has been an annual problem, why didn't your party resolve it at the first place? Why, the MCA youth chief Wee Ka Siong being the deputy education minister didn't highlight this to the cabinet in the first place and instead let this problem to drag and has been happening around every year?

You had mentioned it yourself! It is an annual problem and you are keeping so quiet on it until DAP sounded the drums recently. After that you tried to ask DAP to shut up and let yourselves fix the PSD problems. Fixing the PSD problems? Why only now? You should have done it in the first place instead of letting it drag on annually.

The MCA is in the government "effectively" where the party is represented as ministers, deputy ministers, directors of so many GLC boards, directors of several government corporations and so on. Where are they all this while when many of our most outstanding students' application for PSD scholarships were repeatedly rejected with no concrete reasons given.

And yet the ungrateful MCA who is a permanent Umno lackey dare to respond with an attack on the DAP who is doing all its best to serve the disappointed communities at large. MCA only serve the Chinese portion, while MIC (who just jumped into the PSD case) serves the Indian portion of these PSD related problems.

In this issue, DAP choose no skin colours nor race in its service to the people. The opposition party effectively serves all Malaysians irrespective of their race, religions or skin colours and that is why voters are strongly supporting the said party now, instead of MCA, MIC, Gerakan or PPP.

DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng earlier called for a full investigation into the education saga which was seen to be draining Malaysia of home-grown talents. “How can the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) efforts to attract and retain human talent work when the federal government officials cannot even get right the simple job of offering scholarships to the best students and instead awarding them to the worst?” the Penang chief minister said.

If DAP were to keep quiet like the MCA does previously till yesterday, our outstanding students would be suffering from such denial for another ten to twenty years. Why because MCA is too dependent on Umno and so does Gerakan, MIC, PPP and the rest of the BN component parties.

Do MCA see itself as an effective BN component party? If you say yes, why didn't the voters support you in the last general elections? And more voters are shunning MCA in so many by-elections held recently.

Save your energy and close shop! It's best you can do now.

EC should ask ROS to register Pakatan quickly

The Election Commission (EC) had recently advised the current opposition pact, Pakatan Rakyat comprising PAS, PKR and DAP, to register their coalition so that they could use their logo in the coming general election. EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the coalition should be registered because the opposition parties were always seen violating regulations of the election campaign, especially on the use of their logo. Datuk Wan Ahmad seems to be overly ignorant and too forgetful on this issue. The EC deputy chairman should ask the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to quickly register the Pakatan instead of calling on Pakatan to register itself. Pakatan Rakyat had earlier send in their formal application to register itself as a coalition of political parties since November 2009 and ROS has yet to register the said entity till today after delaying and creating so many hassles for more than a year. USM fiasco a shame

I read and heard with irritation and felt disgusted with the fiasco committed by the apex status university called Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which caused untold anguish to the affected students and their parents. If this happened in Japan, the Vice-Chancellor would have done the honourable thing - take full responsibilty and leave, but here in Malaysia, as expected, the blame is shifted here and there, trying to make someone a scapegoat. By the way, would there be any racist or sabotage elements involved? Those who are responsible for this fiasco should be sacked or expelled immediately.

Federal Constitution that Safeguards the Legitimate Rights and Interest of All Malaysians

The provisions of the Federal Constitution are very clear. It confirmed the position of the Malay Rulers, Islam as an official religion of the federation and special position of the Malays and the natives in Sabah and Sarawak whilst recalling that those provisions balance those special positions with safeguards to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the other communities in Malaysia which also includes their right to profess and practice their religions freely without being fear of any threats or being harmed by anybody. The legitimate interests of the non-Malays and non-Muslims would include, amongst others: a) Article 153 (9) says that business or trade cannot be solely reserved only for the Malays, b) Article 3 (1) says that the official religion of the federation is Islam BUT other religions are also allowed to be practiced in peace and harmony in any part of the federation.
