Teoh's inquest: It's just BN's showcase

It is very clear now, the family of the late Teoh Beng Hock has been fooled by the Umno-led BN federal government. During the funeral, Beng Hock's family was promised that the inquest would take less than a year to complete and justice would soon prevail.

But after more than a year, what had Beng Hock's family got? All they got is they had been given a run around by the BN government officials, Umno and MCA leaders. The inquest proceedings were prolonged and dragged not deeper into the case but it is made like a showcase or "sandiwara" so that these BN leaders could continue with their political games much more longer.

One hearing after another, the BN appointed lawyers and defence team even made a fool of the inquest proceedings and made mockery out of Beng Hock's family members. They accused Beng Hock's family members of being politically used by DAP, PKR and PAS for their political gains, they accused Beng Hock's family for not wanting to listen to facts and not respecting the law and so on.

So, we want to ask all the BN leaders, particularly the Umno president Najib Razak who promised that the inquest would not take long and those responsible would be round up and punished; promises made by former MCA president Ong Tee Keat, MCA deputy president Liow Tiong Lai and Gerakan president Dr Koh Tsu Koon who all promised that they would press their top leaders to have a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to be established.

Where are the promises made by Umno, MCA and Gerakan? Where are these BN leaders now? They dare not even come to the inquest to observe and hear how the proceedings were going on and why has it been delayed for so long.

During Beng Hock's funeral, we saw all these BN leaders came and shared their grieves over the murder of the Selangor state executive councillor's political aide. They came to Beng Hock's family pouring in promises with this and that, pledge justice would prevail under the BN, and they even share their view of the need of the RCI to be established as soon as possible.

But what now, these BN leaders just disappeared like that! Not even a word from them anymore. Have they forgotten what they had said previously?

Yeah, we knew it. When these MCA and Gerakan leaders brought the case up, Najib told them to just shut up and stay where they are. There you are, these powerless and toothless BN leaders who could not even have the views of their own. MCA and Gerakan for justice? Bullshit! These bunch of Umno lackeys serve nothing but themselves, their ministerial post, their senatorial positions and their pockets. The people is not in their mind.

That is why Beng Hock's family choose to fight for justice via Pakatan Rakyat's platform. There's nothing BN could do at all for them because they were equally responsible for the death of Beng Hock.

The murderer who is also the MACC investigation officer is still at large and enjoying his freedom out there.

The RCI for Beng Hock and justice would not prevail unless we change the occupier of the government seat in Putrajaya. Otherwise, it would be just simply a showcase or "sandiwara" to cheat Beng Hock's family and the people our nation.

EC should ask ROS to register Pakatan quickly

The Election Commission (EC) had recently advised the current opposition pact, Pakatan Rakyat comprising PAS, PKR and DAP, to register their coalition so that they could use their logo in the coming general election. EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the coalition should be registered because the opposition parties were always seen violating regulations of the election campaign, especially on the use of their logo. Datuk Wan Ahmad seems to be overly ignorant and too forgetful on this issue. The EC deputy chairman should ask the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to quickly register the Pakatan instead of calling on Pakatan to register itself. Pakatan Rakyat had earlier send in their formal application to register itself as a coalition of political parties since November 2009 and ROS has yet to register the said entity till today after delaying and creating so many hassles for more than a year. USM fiasco a shame

I read and heard with irritation and felt disgusted with the fiasco committed by the apex status university called Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which caused untold anguish to the affected students and their parents. If this happened in Japan, the Vice-Chancellor would have done the honourable thing - take full responsibilty and leave, but here in Malaysia, as expected, the blame is shifted here and there, trying to make someone a scapegoat. By the way, would there be any racist or sabotage elements involved? Those who are responsible for this fiasco should be sacked or expelled immediately.

Singapore Malay daily teaches Mahathir about hardwork

The former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's assumption that Malays in Singapore had failed and their neighbouring Malays should take lesson from their plight has not impressed a Singaporean daily.
