Backdoor government is up!
The backdoor prime minister has been appointed. Yesterday the backdoor cabinet has been appointed. Today, the backdoor ministers had taken their oath and tomorrow they will commence work in their new ministries respectively.
This is the first cabinet established by a prime minister without a deputy prime minister appointed, instead four senior ministers were appointed as his inner cabinet, to advise and assist the prime minister on in-depth matters.
Bersatu has withdrew from Pakatan Harapan in an ugly manner and forged an alliance with Umno and PAS in order to established a pure “Malay” government in order to save the country from an overwhelming “Chinese” Pakatan Harapan government, according to sources from Umno, PAS and Bersatu.
So, in the end of the day, does Bersatu and some PKR defectors mean, in the end of the day, the governing factor of this nation is still all about one race and that particular religion of "theirs"?
In the new cabinet, Bersatu leaders has taken-up a large number of ministerial positions, while Umno claimed their lots as well, however, PAS did fairly poor when comes to asking for cabinet positions. Their party president did not make it to the new cabinet while their party deputy president took up a less important position instead of the religious affairs minister position as earlier anticipated.
PAS members at the grassroots level were heard voicing their dissatisfaction over fewer important cabinet positions PAS has been awarded, given to the fact that the party played an active role too in toppling the Pakatan Harapan government.
Umno leaders too are heard complaining that the deputy prime minister’s position was supposed to be filled by the party but this time round, the position did not even exist.
Muhyddin knew if he were to appoint a deputy prime minister, politicking and factionalism will continue between the Perikatan Nasional partners. If he appoints the DPM from his own party, some factions will be disappointed, while if he appoints the DPM from Umno, his own Bersatu will be unhappy. Even PAS is asking for the DPM’s position. What should he do? Don’t appoint a DPM at all as a solution.
Instead he played the “breakeven your competitors” or “divide and rule” method by appointing four senior ministers as part of his “inner cabinet” to assist him on crucial matters. First time in history four senior ministers were appointed to replace the DPM position. But by playing with such game, how far can he go? How long can he last? No one knows.
Muhyiddin’s government is a government of survival as he has only three more years to go if he could survive the no-confidence vote come 18 May 2020 parliamentary sitting. The coronavirus has indeed given him a huge advantage for not having have to undergo a snap election sooner. Furthermore, the government’s coffer is also insufficient to organise yet another general election for this year due to the massive loss of fund suffered as the result of the financial scandals and billions were stolen during the reign of the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) government prior to May 2018.
Postponing the parliamentary session to 18 May 2020 will also buy him time to sought for more support for his new government, perhaps source for more money to bring over more MPs from the Harapan side, but based on the fact of his status as a mere “Malay only government” will he get the popular support he wants? Or will he resort further to “cash is king” to continue buying over support in order to sustain his government even at the lower level? Is he doing it or Umno is doing it? Or are both of them are doing the same. Does PAS actually allow to such corrupt practice to carry on, being a religious party in the "Perikatan" coalition?
What if he lost the no-confidence vote come the parliamentary sitting on 18 May 2020? Will he sought the king for more time to regain his ground or will he sought the king to call for a snap election? Well, the king, of course has the power to decline the call for snap election due to the current unwarranted situation, the coronavirus is indeed spreading and when will this virus stop spreading, no one knows.
But the fact that the majority in the population has protested against the new government citing it was a backdoor made, established in an immoral way, by immoral leaders who used immoral methods and ways to toppled the legal one elected on 10 May 2018 general election.
Due to the unfavourable circumstances the nation and the people has to endure with, caution and patience has to be in place in hoping the best will prevail very soon. Yes, it is true that the electoral victory of the people in 2018 has been stolen by power hunger politicians, but the nation still has to move forward. Let us all pray that these immoral political leaders will not take any advantage at this moment that could ruin our nation’s economy and the well-being of our people.
