Umno veep says Chinese and Indians are not patriotic

Umno vice-president and defense minister Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had recently told the parliament and the press that the low percentage of Malaysian Chinese and Indians in the armed forces were because members of these two communities are not patriotic.

It shows that this Umno leader is simply avenging his anger on the Malaysian Chinese and Indians just because he failed to attract these two communities to join the armed forces or is he overly foolish to make such statements? But we think that he may belongs to two of these categories.

Why by not enrolling or joining or having an interest in joining the armed forces shows that we are being unpatriotic or somehow a "penderhaka"? What makes you think that we all Malaysian Chinese and Indians who did not enroll in the armed forces are being considered not loyal to our country? Who do you think you are to say all these insulting words? You are being overly a racist when you made this statement.

Being a voter, are we not patriotic? As a voter, we voted out the corrupted and incompetent state governments in Penang, Kedah and Selangor in 2008, are we not patriotic? Being a responsible citizen who is on constant watch in our country's affairs and policies, are we not patriotic? Being a concern citizen who dare to stand up to fight human rights and dignities, are we not patriotic? Being a responsible citizen who comes out daily to work, earn our money and pays our annual taxes to the government, are we not patriotic?

When we saw our Malay, Orang Asli, Kadazan, Murut, Iban or Dayak friends in dire need of our help and financial assistance, we generously gave them cash and other kinds of assistance as a responsible Malaysian citizen, are we not patriotic enough?

There are many Malaysian Chinese and Indians who join the teaching profession in order to educate our fellow young Malaysians to be good and responsible citizens in this nation of ours, are we still not patriotic?

Besides joining the armed forces, there are many other ways and means for us to show and demonstrate our patriotism and loyalty to our nation like what we had mentioned above herein.

Didn't Ahmad Zahid ever realize that there are also many ordinary working Malaysian Chinese and Indians who had regularly sacrifice their family, time and rest to join the voluntary units in the reserve Territorial Army, Police Volunteer Reserve, Rela and Civil Defense in order to serve our nation? Doesn't all these show our patriotism and loyalty to our nation?

Ahmad Zahid's statement in the parliament and to the press recently shows that he is being a fool and narrow minded, perhaps being a racist too for targeting and blaming the Malaysian Chinese and Indians in such an insulting manner.

If you had failed in your duties and responsibilities to attract a fair percentage of our people to enroll in the armed forces, then it is you who is problematic and you should resign from your position as defense minister as soon as possible, instead of blaming our people.

Just don't give stupid, narrow minded and racist reasons or view to cover-up your failure. By the way, where did you bought your Ph.D to have yourself call a doctor?
