Cow and condo scandal: MACC raided NFC office
Yesterday, police arrested a 45-year-old businessman believed to be an influential Datuk for allegedly attempting to bribe investigators who were investigating the NFC scandal.
NFC, which is run by the husband of Wanita Umno chief and Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, has been the targeted over the abuse of RM250 million of public funds.
In the latest series of exposure, it is also been reported Shahrizat’s family owned a luxury condominium worth RM10 million in Singapore which was bought via NFC. A source also confirmed that the 2,282 square feet unit at Anthony Road, Orchard Scotts, was purchased in January 2010, and registered under the ownership of Shahrizat’s husband, Mohamad Salleh Ismail, and their children. Mohamed Salleh is currently the NFC’s executive chairman.
In earlier revelations, it mentioned large sums of fund were used to purchase a luxury condominium in Bangsar and an expensive vehicle. It also claimed that the beef that NFC produced was channelled to restaurants belonging to Shahrizat’s family members.
So much of misappropriation of public funds over here, and even if MACC is going deeper into this case, neither Shahrizat nor Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin would be taken in for questioning onto this scandal. Muhyiddin was the agricultural minister when the RM250 million of funds was allocated to NFC.
It is widely expected that the currently detained 45-year-old Datuk would be forced to become the scapegoat in order to prevent Shahrizat and Muhyddin from being implicated into this complicated scandal.
