Najibminator's Judgment Day

Image
We were all gravely surprise when Umno president and prime minister Najib Razak in the recently concluded Umno general assembly addressed his party delegates and warned that "crushed bodies, lost of lives and ethnic cleansing" if the status quo was not kept. Perhaps, Najib had watched all the episodes of the Terminator movie that very night before he make his concluding speech in the next day at the Umno general assembly. He thinks that someone in his government had accidentally activated the "Skynet Defense System" at the Kementerian Pertahanan Malaysia that had released a bunch of military cyborgs out there and would soon create a "nuclear holocaust" to crush all the Umno delegates. That is why he made those warnings so openly to alert his party members. Isn't that so? If it is not about the Terminators, who else are going to crush these Umno delegates? Pakatan Rakyat? Do you really think that Pakatan Rakyat or say, Anwar Ibrahim are capable to crus...

Senior citizens who return money will be struck off list

Image
Senior citizens who insist on returning the RM100 received under the Senior Citizen Appreciation Programme may do so by filling in a form to be obtained at their respective district office. State environment, health, welfare and caring society committee chairman Phee Boon Poh said they have to respect the rights of the people. "If they really believed the lies spread by Umno and wanted to return the money, we now have a standard operating procedure for them to do so," he said. Phee, reminded the senior citizens that funds for the programme was obtained from the state governmentā€™s coffers through stringent budgeting under the Pakatan Rakyat state government. "The programme was approved under the state budget in 2009 and the allocation came from the consolidated funds of 2009," he said. He said it was the standard procedure that all monies received this year canā€™t be used as it would have to be recorded and audited before it was segmented into various sections for use...

Seri Perdana's renovation again! RM65 million to be thrown

Image
The prime minister and finance minister I, Datuk Seri Najib Razak had recently announced in his budget speech that an amount of RM65 million has been allocated to renovate his official residence, Seri Perdana in Putrajaya. Najib, who is also the Umno president and BN chairman had also announced in his recent budget speech several mega projects which is to be undertaken by his federal government, where the most expensive 100-storey Warisan Merdeka tower which will cost RM5.o billion will be erected in the middle of Kuala Lumpur city next to the Stadium Merdeka. We understand that prior to Najib's premiership, former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had also allocate millions of Ringgit to renovate the official residence to fit his needs and requirements. Just look at Seri Perdana (picture above). One renovation after another. Did Najib allocate this fund to renovate just to create a legacy of himself in the official residence, or to move away Abdullah and Mahathir's desi...

Only Umno can protect Malay rights. Really?

Image
Umno president and BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak declared today that political power must remain in Umnoā€™s hands to protect the special position of Malays. He also promised that his administration would not roll back affirmative action policies to protect Malay interests. Really? If that so, can you tell us what Umno has done to bring about the betterment of the Malay community for the past 50 years? What has Umno done for the Malay people for the past 50 years of Umno's governance in both federal and state levels? If Umno was really protecting the Malay rights, why had Bank Bumiputra Malaysia Berhad gone missing? Why had Proton always suffer massive losses? Why is Felda suffering some huge losses and accumulating its bad debts? Why about nearly 80 per cent of the Malays are still in poor conditions, with no money to spent, could not feed their children nor sending them to schools, no electricity or water supplies in villages and some are even getting poorer and their sufferin...

Frustrated Sabah Umno leader quit party

Image
A key veteran politician who brought Umno into Sabah, Karim Ghani, announced he quit the party Monday. Karim was among former United Sabah National Organisation (Usno) leaders, including the late Tun Datu Mustapha Datu Harun (founder of Usno), who played a part in bringing Umno into the state in the 1990s. Usno was forced to disband to make way for Umno. He said he had sent his resignation letter to the Umno headquarters in Kuala Lumpur and the partyā€™s state office here, earlier Monday. ā€œI quit Umno with immediate effect today. I stick to my final decision and in the meantime, I will remain partyless until I find the right political party to join,ā€ he told a news conference here. Karim said he got fed up and was gravely frustrated with Umnoā€™s continuous failure to fight for Sabahansā€™ rights and welfare. The former Usno vice-president was among a group loyal to Usno who recently pleaded to Home Minister and Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein to review the decision of re...

When constructive criticism turns into "derhaka" or seditious

We would like to ask the authorities, if a ruler commits a crime or wasting public money for his own publicity or his lusts for fame and glory, shouldn't he be criticized constructively? Are these constructive criticism viewed as "derhaka" or seditious even if the ruler is morally and technically wrong in doing its wonders? And why? On what provision and so on? Does that mean the ruler is above the law, and he also has the powers to sentence his people or subject to death, thus bypassing the judiciary and the existing laws? In the federal and state constitutions, it clearly states that all the rulers are subject to the constitutional provisions, which clearly explained that they are constitutional rulers and they shall at all times subject to the constitution and its stature. This means, the rulers' role and responsibilities are based establishment as written in the constitutions be it federal or state. These rulers are paid by the governments of the day, both federal...

BN's super 100 storey tower - bankrupt

We were all taken by surprise when prime minister and Umno president Datuk Najib Razak revealed in yesterday's budget speech that the federal government is planning to construct a 100 storey super tower which is to be called "Warisan Merdeka" beside the Merdeka Stadium in Kuala Lumpur. The construction of yet another BN's dream has been confirmed and its cost would be RM5 billion as reported in yesterday's budget. A federal government's subsidiary Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) is expected to take up the project and construction. Another wastage of public funds. First of all, why do we need such building? Why is the BN federal government so fond of wanting to be the tallest, biggest, longest, fattest or broadest in the world? Look, the project cost is confirmed to be at RM5 billion. What about the construction costs, the material costs, and the inflation cost built-up? We are very certain that by the year 2014, the cost of this project would come up to betwe...

Penang Forum to hold local council elections

We applaud the move planned by the Penang Forum, a coalition of Penang NGOs, communities and individuals to organize local council elections in the state which is to be held on 14 November 2010 at the 3rd Penang Forum. This is the first step and a trial run which everyone of us must observe in order to see its effectiveness and what it could contribute. Besides, the Penang state government should also seriously look into this implementation. The local council elections agenda was one of the promise that Pakatan Rakyat had made during the last general elections and its implementation are still pending citing various restrictions in the provisions under the Local Governments Act and the current federalism of governance which had left the state government powerless in terms of some policy implementations and fundings as well as the uncooperative manner of the Election Commission (EC). We believe that the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) leaders should not take these challenges as a stumbling block for...

Parliamentary motion to debate on racist school principals rejected

The Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin had today rejected a motion to debate on the racist school principals in the parliament which was put forward by the DAP Advisor and MP for Ipoh Timur Lim Kit Siang. The speaker reasoned that the matter raised was specific and of public interest, as such there was no urgency to debate this matter. If this matter is specific and of public interest, why is there no urgency to debate it in the parliament? What is this speaker trying to say? If this matter is unspecific and have no public interest, then it is correct to say that there is no urgency to debate it. Two months had passed and there is still no action taken against these two school principals who utterly hurled racist insults on their Chinese and Indian students. According to the Education Ministry and the Public Service Department, these two school principals has been disciplined, but so far we have yet to see any reports or evidence that real action has been taken against the duo. Come o...

Talk, talk and talk but no commitment

Yesterday, at the MCA general assembly, prime minister and Umno president Najib Razak again talked about racism and it will not be tolerated. We do not know actually how many times has Najib told our people that racism will not be tolerated. When it comes to the Gerakan national delegates conference soon, we are certain that Najib will say the same old words over there again and after that again, when he officiates the MIC and PPP general assemblies respectively. The prime minister who is also the BN chairman had so far talk, talk and talk about racism will not be tolerated but to-date there is still no firm commitment. Our people are getting over and over all the time hoping that Najib will walk his talk but until now it is inaction. It is only talk and talk. What is the use of talking all the time but no commitment. Najib is giving a false hope to the entire nation and our people as well. Can we trust him and all his words? As such, we urge Najib or whatever any of his party leaders ...

Court of Appeal says Umnoā€™s Perak assembly legitimate

Image
The court cannot interfere in matters that transpired in Perak state assembly proceedings and the Umno's resolution over the removal of V. Sivakumar as the state speaker, the Court of Appeal said. Justice Datuk Abdul Malik Ishak said whatever had taken place on May 7 last year in the Perak state assembly where Sivakumar was removed as the speaker by Umno and was replaced with Datuk R. Ganesan, was legitimate and valid. Is the Court of Appeal judge trying to say that it cannot interfere in what has been transpired in the Perak state assembly but the police can do so in helping Umno to forcefully remove Sivakumar from office? Is the Court of Appeal trying to translate that what Umno had done that is, holding a separate state assembly session at the corner of the hall chaired by their rebel deputy speaker, while the current speaker at that time was still present, is also also legitimate and valid? What kind of Court of Appeal is this? When presenting their judgment, did the court real...

Gerakan president faces revolt, party in decline

Image
Gerakan president Dr Koh Tsu Koon is facing the worst ever revolt not only from within the party but from outside as well, all sides. After being summarily defeated in the last general election on 2008, the embattled Gerakan leader choose to hold on to his position and vowed to strive on to move Gerakan into a new chapter with promises of reform and rejuvenation from within the party as well to bring in the young generation to make up the new leadership line-up. Two years had gone and all those pledges and promises of change and reform were forgotten just like that. Members of the younger generations in the party began to sense the ineffectiveness of the Gerakan presidency in Dr Koh and started to sound their displeasure over the way he leads the party into. However, those grievances when into deaf ears as the present set of leadership still remain under the grip of the conservatives faction which includes Dr Koh himself. Whoever sound their displeasure on the party leadership were sys...

Is Umno really that Islamic?

Image
How Islamic is Umno? Are they truly practicing the real Islam as they claimed? Just look at how hypocrite is Umno in the Penang Senior Citizens' Financial Aid program. Umno claimed that the money that the Penang state government used to fund its Senior Citizens' Financial Aid program were "haram" as they were donated by the Penang Turf Club. The truth is, the Penang Turf Club did donated the money to the state government to aid all those who needed them and in order to avoid it to be politicize, the fund was briefly reserved to aid those of non-Muslims. At Umno's intense instigation and blackmails, many people, particularly the Malay communities had all got confused thus, decided to return all their money via Penang Umno branch offices. Umno division leaders in the state had started to come forward "in defense of Islam", "in the name of Islam" and for their so-called "Jihad" against the Penang state government. The question here, is U...

Keng Yaik resigns as Gerakan advisor

Image
Former Gerakan president Tun Dr Lim Keng Yaik today announced his resignation as the party advisor and immediately attacked his successor party president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon for his weak leadership as well as his failure to resolve the leadership crisis in the Penang Gerakan. Besides, Dr Lim also said that Dr Koh as Gerakan president had always avoid conflict resolution and instead choose to be a good man for all sides, therefore failed to tackle the conflicts arise which had by now being transpired into an open revolt. We wish to informed Dr Lim that Dr Koh is his chosen successor and should take the partial blame for the failure of the present Gerakan leadership and the party's dismayed performance in the last general election which also saw the party losing its power base to the Pakatan Rakyat. During the intense factional rivalry in Penang Gerakan few years ago, Dr Lim as the then party president had choose to side Dr Koh for the state chairmanship instead of the much stron...

NUJ president: Free the press or face chaos

Using the media to play up racial and religious issues for short term political gain may turn Malaysia into a conflict-torn nation, fears Hata Wahari, the newly-elected National Union of Journalists (NUJ) president. We applaud the firm stand made by the new NUJ president, and would like to urge Hata to stand up firmly against the massive media manipulation currently being instigated by Umno. As the result of all these negative elements, the traditional mainstream medias now are very much tainted and full of message and reports that promote racism and hatred. Besides, imbalance and unjust reporting by these traditional mainstream medias are also resulting to the drastic increase public distrust on journalists at large. When the growing public distrust on this medias widen, the sales of newspapers would drop, as the NUJ president had feared earlier. Hata was correct on his fear, for the sake and welfare of all journalists nationwide. If the federal government and the Barisan Nasional (BN...
