Is Umno really that Islamic?

How Islamic is Umno? Are they truly practicing the real Islam as they claimed? Just look at how hypocrite is Umno in the Penang Senior Citizens' Financial Aid program.

Umno claimed that the money that the Penang state government used to fund its Senior Citizens' Financial Aid program were "haram" as they were donated by the Penang Turf Club. The truth is, the Penang Turf Club did donated the money to the state government to aid all those who needed them and in order to avoid it to be politicize, the fund was briefly reserved to aid those of non-Muslims.

At Umno's intense instigation and blackmails, many people, particularly the Malay communities had all got confused thus, decided to return all their money via Penang Umno branch offices. Umno division leaders in the state had started to come forward "in defense of Islam", "in the name of Islam" and for their so-called "Jihad" against the Penang state government.

The question here, is Umno really that Islamic? How Islamic is Umno? Actually, Umno is no Islam, Umno is not as holy as we use to think. They are just a bunch of political hooligans haging by the road side, waiting to strike at their next victim. And this is Umno.

If that Umno is so Islamic as they claimed to, why are their members of parliament and state assemblymen receiving their salaries with so open hand? Didn't they realize that nearly more than half of the federal government's cash reserved was derived from the taxation on Genting, Sports Toto and Magnum's gambling businesses?

Has any Umno leader ever stood up to oppose the issuance of gambling licenses? Has Umno ever oppose the activities of Genting, Sports Toto and Magnum for the sake of Islam? No never at all.

If Umno claim to champion the course of Islam, why are they only doing this now? Just because Penang state is currently being ruled by Pakatan Rakyat. Just because the Penang Chief Minister is a non-Muslim, just because Umno hates everyone around them with no mercy.

Where is Umno's sincerity? The Umno's sincerity only lies on its money, cash and luxuries which are all derived from their unIslamic kind of work and businesses. They are corruption, money politics, power abuses, mismanagement, swindling and so on. Are all these called "halal"? Is Umno really that "halal"?

This is proof yet again that Umno is getting overly desperate and they are forced to play up race and religious issues, hatred and violence in order to drum for support. Umno just don't care about national unity and had often shown disrespect to the harmonious multi-racial society in this country.

EC should ask ROS to register Pakatan quickly

The Election Commission (EC) had recently advised the current opposition pact, Pakatan Rakyat comprising PAS, PKR and DAP, to register their coalition so that they could use their logo in the coming general election. EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the coalition should be registered because the opposition parties were always seen violating regulations of the election campaign, especially on the use of their logo. Datuk Wan Ahmad seems to be overly ignorant and too forgetful on this issue. The EC deputy chairman should ask the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to quickly register the Pakatan instead of calling on Pakatan to register itself. Pakatan Rakyat had earlier send in their formal application to register itself as a coalition of political parties since November 2009 and ROS has yet to register the said entity till today after delaying and creating so many hassles for more than a year. USM fiasco a shame

I read and heard with irritation and felt disgusted with the fiasco committed by the apex status university called Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which caused untold anguish to the affected students and their parents. If this happened in Japan, the Vice-Chancellor would have done the honourable thing - take full responsibilty and leave, but here in Malaysia, as expected, the blame is shifted here and there, trying to make someone a scapegoat. By the way, would there be any racist or sabotage elements involved? Those who are responsible for this fiasco should be sacked or expelled immediately.

Federal Constitution that Safeguards the Legitimate Rights and Interest of All Malaysians

The provisions of the Federal Constitution are very clear. It confirmed the position of the Malay Rulers, Islam as an official religion of the federation and special position of the Malays and the natives in Sabah and Sarawak whilst recalling that those provisions balance those special positions with safeguards to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the other communities in Malaysia which also includes their right to profess and practice their religions freely without being fear of any threats or being harmed by anybody. The legitimate interests of the non-Malays and non-Muslims would include, amongst others: a) Article 153 (9) says that business or trade cannot be solely reserved only for the Malays, b) Article 3 (1) says that the official religion of the federation is Islam BUT other religions are also allowed to be practiced in peace and harmony in any part of the federation.
