BN's super 100 storey tower - bankrupt
We were all taken by surprise when prime minister and Umno president Datuk Najib Razak revealed in yesterday's budget speech that the federal government is planning to construct a 100 storey super tower which is to be called "Warisan Merdeka" beside the Merdeka Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.
The construction of yet another BN's dream has been confirmed and its cost would be RM5 billion as reported in yesterday's budget. A federal government's subsidiary Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) is expected to take up the project and construction.
Another wastage of public funds. First of all, why do we need such building? Why is the BN federal government so fond of wanting to be the tallest, biggest, longest, fattest or broadest in the world?
Look, the project cost is confirmed to be at RM5 billion. What about the construction costs, the material costs, and the inflation cost built-up? We are very certain that by the year 2014, the cost of this project would come up to between RM8 billion to RM12 billion.
Spending about RM12 billion just to get a name for himself? Former premier Dr Mahathir had already got his name on the Petronas Twin Towers. Therefore, Najib would want another one under his legacy.
What for? Once the building is up, what benefit will it bring to the people of Kuala Lumpur and its surroundings? What benefit will it bring to the existing businesses in the capital? What can we be proud of anyway? That building will not be ours or any of us in the streets of the capital.
It is a bloody blatant waste of public funds just to satisfy the ego and fame of someone on top of the governance just because he is called the "prime minister". He has the powers to do so. He has the powers to use our money for his personal gains.
That costs between RM5 billion to RM12 billion, why not use for the betterment of our people? Why not use it to build more schools, hospitals, improve and develop our nation's roads and highways as well as the other infrastructures which will benefit the people? Why not use that money to help our senior citizens like what the Penang state government had did?
Besides, that costs between RM5 billion to RM12 billion can also be used to provide better perks, salaries and bonuses for the poorly paid civil servants both of federal and state levels. We understand that the civil servants will not enjoy any bonuses like they had during previous years.
We still remember, minister in the prime minister's department Datuk Idris Jala had said previously that our nation will go bankrupt very soon if those subsidies are not withdrawn from the people. So, why not use this RM5 billion to RM12 billion to fill up the treasury and extend the subsidies for our daily use items and power supplies? Has the BN forgotten of Idris Jala's warning that the federal government could go bankrupt should its treasury is not filled?
Well, we know Big Malaysia is back, but for who? Najib, Umno or BN? Creating yet another big project in order to provide more business opportunities for all Umno or BN contractors, sub-contractors and sub-sub-contractors. We all know the intentions behind this project, because the Umno general assembly is coming, the Umno's party elections is going to due soon and this is how money politics continue to play its role in Umno's dirty politics at the expense of our people's money.
This is an indeed a blatant irresponsible budget and we are all paying the income tax annually to satisfy the lusts of all these irresponsible leaders. Our money are not put in good use for the betterment of our people and our future generations as well.
