Can We Get Rid of the Two-Party System Mindset?

Image
As you know the Pakatan Harapan (PH) governance in Malaysia is coming to its first year old. A lot of policy and implementations has been carried out and they are quite many too which are still pending. Why are they pending then? Yes, they are certainly a lot of reasons out there. The numerous effects of the previous governance by the then Barisan Nasional (BN) which has been famous for its corruption, scandals, power abuse, mismanagement, as well as its racial and religious extremism in politics. Well, on 9 May 2019, we Malaysian gradually voted BN out from their power house on that day just because of one major thing. BN and their leaders have been ruined our nation for decades, billions of Ringgit has been lost. The BN leaders became wealthier while our people became even poorer. Our nationā€™s coffers had almost been emptied with all their fancy handouts and swindling-at-large. The then BN government has been borrowing extensively from creditors to finance their leaders pers...

Where are the four academics and why are they afraid of the truth?

Image
Where are those the four academics, UiTM deputy vice-chancellor and law professor Rahmat Mohamad, IIUM law associate professor Shamrahayu Abdul Aziz and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (Usim) law lecturers, Fareed Mohd Hassan and Hisham Hanapi who had recently briefed the rulers with wrong information on the Rome Statute? Why are those four academics so quiet and refused any response to many critics over their misinformation on the Rome Statute? Keeping so quiet or avoiding the people over their inaccurate presentation arenā€™t going to ease our peopleā€™s anger over their intended misinformation. If they had really misinformed the rulers on the Rome Statute, they should come forward and apologies to the rulers and the entire nation over their misleading presentation. As learned professionals in their profession, we wonder why did they present such misinformation to the constitutional monarch? Have they done it accidently or did they do it intentionally with a sole intent to embarrass t...

IPCMC now or it will be none forever !

Image
The shocking reveal on the policeā€™s responsibilities of the two abductions has indeed renewed public calls to have the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) to be established as soon as possible in order to address the various cases and misdeeds which involved members of the force. And yet until today, certain elements within the force are still against the IPCMC and this faction within the force had in fact taken numerous steps to ensure the IPCMC does not come into reality forever. The fact that is, the establishment of the IPCMC does not signify anti-police measures, the setting-up of the IPCMC is not to take control over the police force not taking over their role in preserving our nationā€™s security. Furthermore, the new government does not intend to abolish the police force. The proposal to establish the IPCMC is to assist the police force to improve their standards, integrity, transparency and accountability. It will provide various support and amenit...

Can the select committees please start working?

Image
Last year, the Dewan Rakyat Speaker, Mohamad Arif Md Yusof had announced the establishment of six new parliamentary select committees in order to provide oversight on the federal government's budget, appointments and other activities. The six subject areas are: Consideration of Bills, Budget, Home and Defence, Rights and Gender Equality, Federal-State Relations, and, Major Public Appointments. In the beginning of this year, the speaker had also informed the public that more select committees will also be established in the next sitting which has already begun.  However, we have not seen any of these select committees commencing their responsibilities right after the establishments were announced last year. We wonder if the MPs who are sitting in these select committees know exactly what they should kick start, when and where or are they really aware of what are their oversight activities they should undertake. The Public Service Department and Finance Ministry has b...
