New EO Replace the Old EO. Is That All?

Earlier, the BN government has decided to please our people by repealing the Emergency Ordinance (EO) and the Restricted Residence Act. The repeal of these two laws were further affirmed by the police that the crime rate of our nation has dropped, thanks to the "hard work" of the policemen out there in "curbing" the crimes.

Out of the sudden, the newly sworn in BN government with its new home affairs minister in place, they had decided to enact a new law to replace the old EO and also incorporating some of the  provisions of the other repealed laws. The BN leader reason that the crime rates has been on the rise again, blamed the release of many EO detainees had also resulted to the immediate increase of the crime spree in the streets and many more excuses.

And at the same time, both the recently retired inspector-general of police and the newly appointed inspector-general of police (IGP) has been insisting that the crime rate has dropped despite being questioned continuously by various quarters, like the Opposition leaders, civil rights NGOs and the general public at large on the police reduction of crimes index.

In the general point of view here, we could see both the home affairs minister, his ministry officials are in fact contradicting with the IGP's report on the reduction of criminal activities in our nation. At the same time out on the streets there, our people are suffering from the effects of the worst ever crimes from traumas, injuries to deaths.

What we are all are angry here is, both the government and the police top brass that are keeping on their conflicting views and index reports against each other in a "political" fight which had never end since, while our people keeps on suffering from the effects of these crimes which had proven to be on the rise.

Did you know what happened earlier between the Selangor state government and the IGP? Because of the many unresolved crimes in the state, the state government via its Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) had submitted three applications to the IGP to establish its own units of auxiliary police to help prevent and combating crimes in the state. And the previous IGP had rejected the application twice by saying that the state had recorded a reduction in crimes over the past few months, but deaths as the results of such crimes continue to increase.

What next? The new IGP has then decided to approve the MBPJ's application to have its own auxiliary police units, but these auxiliary police units crime prevention are only restricted within the compound of the MBPJ building and its municipal court complex? So, can the IGP explain what the hell does this mean? Can such restriction help to curb crimes in the state? It is better to reject the application straight away rather than to giving a limited approval or reluctantly approve it which will bring no positive impact at all to the crime prevention activities in the state.

Then, coming back to the BN government's intention of enacting a enlarged brand new law to replace the repealed EO and the other old ones, we supposed they are having some other political agendas behind this. Yes, such laws can be effective used against hard tough criminals but on the other hand, it can also be used against political opponents of the ruling party.

Remembering the previous case on how 6 leaders and activists of the Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) were detained under the EO for some long period on some "reported allegations from the public" that these group of PSM leaders and activists were actually "communists" who are trying to revive communism in our nation. In the end of their detention period, these PSM leaders and activists were just released like that reasoning that the authorities could not make any case against them. A blatant political motivated kind of detention. Very, very clear indeed.

Let us stress this out straight into the eyes and ears of these BN leaders. If you folks are really concern about the rising crime rates in our nation, look into the other areas, the cause of such rising crimes and the measures to prevent such from going from bad to worst.

We don't know if you had totally forgotten about the importance of crime prevention efforts or you had ignored this segment on purpose just to serve your political powers, interests and advancement. The fact that is, there is no point to have hundreds or thousands of EO types of laws in our nation if there are no efforts to prevent crimes from happening. In other words, prevention would be much more effective than to curb such when they are already happening.

What is the use of awarding permits to establish auxiliary police units to corporate entities like Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Bank Simpanan Nasional, Pos Malaysia, Petronas, Perwaja, Felda, Felcra, Sime Darby, Genting Berhad, Sunway Berhad, property developers, large manufacturing plants, golf clubs and so on when such units are only restricted within their own compounds and buildings? Why not expand the auxiliary police units right down to the municipal council levels so that these units could help to patrol the streets where the police would not have access to all the time?

Then measures to prevent crimes. Has the BN government think about this? What really cause such crimes on the rise? Has these BN leaders up there studied the various social and economic impacts as well as racial discrimination in certain areas because of some policies that had prevent some communities from developing? All these are the many factors that had in fact caused the rise in criminal activities in the streets these days. Does these BN leader know why are there so many Malay youths becoming "mat rempits", drug addicts, drug pushers? Did the BN leaders know why there are so many Indian gangs out there conducting some of the worst robberies? Does these BN leaders know why are there some nay Chinese triads out there doing their extortion work and doing their trades in the night spots?

Well, these BN leaders just simply gave a lame excuse. There is a "Chinese Tsunami" in the 2008 and 2013 general elections, and the Opposition parties took over some of these states. As the result of the Opposition ruling these states, there are no efforts by these state governments to "prevent" and "combat" crimes in these states. Yeah, a real stupid excuse simply because they had wanted to increase the crime rates in our nation in order to politicize it for their own political ends.

The new laws to be enacted to replace the old EO are not to curb the crimes as these criminals has already been existing for decades. These new laws are merely made to target the Oppositions, civil rights organizations and our innocent citizens at large.
