Pondok religious teacher said it is haram to vote DAP but not MCA

A pondok-based religious school teacher named Abdullah Sa'amah today declared that is is haram for Muslims to support and vote for DAP and added that MCA was acceptable because this Barisan Nasional (BN) component party recognised Islam's pre-eminence.

According to that religious teacher, it is compulsoryy for the Muslims in PAS, Umno and PKR to reject DAP because of the later's struggle for equality for all Malaysians. He also added that it is sinful too to support and vote for political parties that are aligned with DAP.

We wonder who is this Abdullah Sa'amah and he just suddenly popped out from nowhere simply to just issue his kind of "fatwa". What right or qualification does he has do issue such religious decree? He reasoned that DAP is haram because the party was against the implementation of hudud laws in this country.

But Abdullah Sa'amah's memory later deteriorated when he forgotten that it was MCA who had first opposed the hudud and other Islamic laws and its party president Chua Soi Lek had even went to an extend by saying that hudud laws could further move our country backwards if it is really implemented. Asides, the MCA leader had always insisted that DAP had supported hudud which had been propagated by PAS.

Chua has been famous for his insistence that it is PAS who has been dominating the opposition Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition and the Islamic-based party had wanted to continue its quest to implement hudud if PR comes into power in the next general elections.

At one time, the MCA president had even threatened to bring his party out of the BN coalition if the some Umno leaders were to support the implementation of the hudud law.

This means Abdullah Sa'amah is supporting MCA's anti-Islam stand but condemn DAP's pledge to uphold Islam as an official religion of this country.

This pondok-based religious teachers thinks he could fool the people by helping the BN to twist the facts and to create more hatred as well as disunity amongst Malaysians. Is this the "Islamic" way that Abdullah Sa'amah is propagating, hate, hate, hate and nothing else but only hatred from his mind?

We would advise that religious teacher not to misuse Islam to play politics as it is a terrible sin for a religious man like him to do so.

EC should ask ROS to register Pakatan quickly

The Election Commission (EC) had recently advised the current opposition pact, Pakatan Rakyat comprising PAS, PKR and DAP, to register their coalition so that they could use their logo in the coming general election. EC deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar said the coalition should be registered because the opposition parties were always seen violating regulations of the election campaign, especially on the use of their logo. Datuk Wan Ahmad seems to be overly ignorant and too forgetful on this issue. The EC deputy chairman should ask the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to quickly register the Pakatan instead of calling on Pakatan to register itself. Pakatan Rakyat had earlier send in their formal application to register itself as a coalition of political parties since November 2009 and ROS has yet to register the said entity till today after delaying and creating so many hassles for more than a year. USM fiasco a shame

I read and heard with irritation and felt disgusted with the fiasco committed by the apex status university called Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) which caused untold anguish to the affected students and their parents. If this happened in Japan, the Vice-Chancellor would have done the honourable thing - take full responsibilty and leave, but here in Malaysia, as expected, the blame is shifted here and there, trying to make someone a scapegoat. By the way, would there be any racist or sabotage elements involved? Those who are responsible for this fiasco should be sacked or expelled immediately.

Singapore Malay daily teaches Mahathir about hardwork

The former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's assumption that Malays in Singapore had failed and their neighbouring Malays should take lesson from their plight has not impressed a Singaporean daily.
