Is Umno allowing its racism to turn into terrorism?

Many reviews and observations have been made on Seputeh MP Teresa Kok’s Chinese New Year video clip which was posted on YouTube.

An honest assessor would admit that the video is satirical but has nothing to do with race or religion. It is about the difficult life of Malaysians, poking fun on our politics, corruption, power abuse and mismanagement that are really happening.

The fact is that it is a comical depiction of all that is wrong with our governance but there was no mention at all of the Malays or Malay rulers.

The opposition MP was trying to drive home the message that the people have been “robbed” and thus the need to buy many “branded handbags” for use to fend off those street robbers or snatch thieves.

Then all of a sudden, a group of Umno-linked NGOs came together in the name of “Coalition of Muslim NGOs” and rolled out its threats of violence in the street, claiming that the video clip had insulted the Malay race, Islam and the Malay rulers.

It even offered a cash reward of RM500, which was subsequently raised to RM1,200, to anyone who could provide photographic evidence of slapping Kok for her “insulting” act.

The Muslim NGO protesters also carried out a chicken head-cutting demonstration in the street to curse and warn Kok and other DAP leaders that blood could be spilled if she stands by her video clip.

That was indeed a crude and threatening manner of expressing disagreement. To the man in the street, the slap offer and blood-spilling act certainly amount to criminal intimidation, though the powers that be view it otherwise.

Kok lodged a police report against the racist protesters but nothing much came out of it. The Inspector-General of Police and his men were lethargic in acting on her report and did not provide Kok with protection despite the clear threat against her.

The IGP’s stand was supported by Umno vice-president and Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who said that there was no need to launch an investigation on the matter because the actions of the protesters were not criminal at all.

In other words, Zahid has endorsed the threats of violence perpetrated by the Umno-linked NGOs. Come to think of it, no one should be surprised. If an Umno leader can get away scot-free for punching an MIC deputy minister, what is an offer to slap a DAP MP? Umno leaders and their cohorts do seem to be above the law. The police appear afraid to act against Umno-linked NGOs.

The situation gets scarier when even police stations can be fire-bombed, as happened to the Bukit Tengah police station.

Now, back to the “Coalition of Muslim NGOs” which had staged the protest. One wonders if this organisation is legal and registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS). I doubt it.

By their very act of cutting a chicken head and spilling blood on the posters of opposition leaders, the protesters have made a mockery of the name “Coalition of Muslim NGOs”. As far as I know, the act of spilling blood to cast a curse is carried out by those who practise black magic or some sort of “adat memuja syaitan” or “menjinak iblis”. These Umno-linked NGOs have done more damage to Islam than fighting to defend it.

On the other hand, what if an NGO were to offer RM2,000 to anyone who could slap Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak or Zahid? Certainly the leaders of this NGO would be rounded up and thrown into the lockup. The NGO would likely be banned by the Home Ministry and its registration struck off by the ROS.

All right-minded and civilised Malaysians know what is really happening in our nation, who the crooks are and those stealing the rakyat’s money. Those criminals and the corrupt leaders are the ones splitting our country and bankrupting our nation.

Everyone also knows that the Umno-dominated government is behind all these negative elements and that they are using the issues of race and religion to subdue and scare the people into supporting them.

Umno has given these mobs a free rein and when they run out of control one day, the country and all the people would pay dearly for it.
