Common for unpopular policies from the new government but the people must be well-informed

We have been hearing complaints from our people that they have not been able to agree with some new policies implemented by the new government recently. Many policies are seen to be unpopular among the population since Pakatan Harapan (PH) took over the government seat in Putrajaya from Barisan Nasional (BN) following the defeat from the later in 9 May 2018 general elections.

Perhaps, today our people has forgotten. The ruins and chaos being left over by the defeat BN in aftermath of the general elections last year. The extensive mess, massive corruptions, mismanagement and power abuse during the BN’s reign. All these negative elements left in Putrajaya and its ministries, departments, agencies and GLCs, who are picking-up the mess now? Has anyone realise the fact now?

Yes, many are seen to have forgotten and worst of all many had forgotten it easily that the causes are having its effect today, and you cannot just simply blame the new government over all the misfortune and unpopular measures that it is now taking up.

We are neither a member of any component parties of the PH nor strong supporters of PH. We all voted for a drastic change in 9 May 2018 last year as all we wanted on that day is to ensure BN is being brought down from power to avoid more damage that could kill our nation later on the very next day.

We must remember that at least our objectives to save the nation has been carried out. And we all must also remember again that our nation has been damaged by BN until before 9 May 2018 and when PH took over after that, the new government has to carry out an extensive “repair work” or some would say an “overhaul” in order to put our nation’s finances into order again.

Trillions of ringgit has been lost and swindled by BN during their reign. The new ruling coalition is now suffering from heavy debts as the results of the previous ruling coalition’s doing.

As such, the new government ought to introduce drastic measures and in many occasions tough unpopular policies in order to curb the negative situations and to cut down its debts as much as possible in order to put the –devalued ringgit back on top. However, these measure need some period of time to take its effects and much convincing are to be done in order to bring back investors’ confidence to our nation.

If you are repairing some defects on our nation, some side-effects or probably short-terms effects are definitely come into picture. Many people will also feel the pain from it.

Learn from the Taiwanese lesson

Taiwan had recently concluded its municipal elections somewhere last year and had seen drastic drop of support for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) of President Tsai Ing Wen.

One of the major reasons that caused DPP’s defeat to its rival Kuomintang (KMT) was the people in that republic were ill-informed about the DPP government’s public policies and facts on its reforms and measures taken which gave the KMT a rapid opportunity to stir up the population’s anger over DPP’s policies.

In this case, the more unpopular policies or measure of the PH government has become, the more PH needs to do to ensure that the people are well-informed via thorough meet-with-people forums and explanations on why certain measures has to be taken and why there are needs for our people to come together to embrace the situation in one heart.

The reason why the majority of our population are dissatisfied with the PH government right now is because most of these people are ill-informed about the public policies, the reasons of why these measures are being taken and the fact that PH did not create all these problems in first place.

Are PH leaders aware that BN machineries are now taking advantage over many ill-informed people by attacking the new government of not being fair to our people? The new government is indeed still weak in its distribution of information to the population especially to the rural and semi-rural areas where BN and PAS still have some hands on them.

Asides, PH leaders and members of the new government also need to be aware that there are still many diehard civil service BN supporters within the establishment that are sabotaging many of the current PH new public policies and implementations, worst of all spying and letting loose of confidential information to BN leaders on what are the new government’s plans and march forward orders.

If the new government and the ruling PH coalition does not gear up its information machineries and curb sabotages from within it is about a matter of time PH will definitely lost yet another by-election or probably the next general elections if they do not see these threats as a serious kind of damage onto their administration’s efforts.

You are now forewarned…
Wake up PH, Wake up!
