Why want to disband Selcat ?
We heard cries of embarassment from some civil servants and some even making a personal appeal to Pakatan Rakyat politicians calling for the review on the position or disband the highly respected Selangor Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) following its hearings which were said to had embarassed and shamed some of the senior civil servants who were involved in the Umno state assemblymen's annual fundings prior to the 8 March 2008 general elections last year.
Why want to disband Selcat first of all ? Selcat had did and they are now still doing a greatest job on Malaysian earth where nobody dare does it ? But Selcat does it to expose the corruption, power abuses, cronyism and the great pretenders who once rule the Selangor state with an iron fist.
According to those senior civil servants who said to had felt embarassed following the Selcat hearing, it is their day which had came. If they were to reject all these wrongdoings and did not collaborate with these Umno state assemblymen at the first place, they will not be summoned to the Selcat hearings today. Since they collaborated with all these corrupted politicians, they have to answer for what they had done today. Releasing the people's money into the corruptors' own pockets.
In fact, there should be more of these select committees to be formed in other Pakatan rule states, like Pelcat (for Penang) and Kelcat (for Kedah and Kelantan) for example, in order to expose all these corrupt activities of the past made by the BN and Umno politicians. The purpose of these select committees are not to penalise but to improve and to revamp the entire administrative system to be more competent, accountable and transparent. Service to the public is most important tool of the civil service.
So, what is the chief secretary to the government doing all these while ? Do not tell us that you did not know of all these or just turning a blind eye on it because you are part of the "BN machinery". Don't forget, same goes to the MACC as well !
