MPs as head of GLCs to provide check and balance. It is a stupid joke!
The finance minister of the rebel government, Senator Tengku Datuk Zafrul Abdul Aziz had alleged in a parliamentary response that the appointment of MPs from Umno, MCA and MIC to head the government-linked-companies (GLCs) is the way to provide check and balance onto these organisations.
Please, Tengku Zafrul, government MPs appointed to helm GLCs cannot provide check and balance, given the fact that they are MPs who are on the government bench, not the opposition bench. History and track records has proven that government MPs appointed to head GLCs will end-up public funds being swindled, mismanaged and corruption became rampant.
Have you not seen what happened prior to May 2018? Billions of ringgit has been swindled, abused and corruption became a nobody's business. It was business as usual then. One Umno MP even said that stealing and robbing are not offence unless the thief or robber is being caught.
The fact that is, no government MPs can help check on GLCs. If Tengku Zafrul insist that these government MPs can do the job, then it is just like, when we go for our driving tests, then we conduct the driving tests on ourselves, then give the marks on our tests all by ourselves. Is this what you mean?
We want to ask Tengku Zafrul, how many of these government MPs appointed to head all those GLCs, how many of them are trained and are experts in their respective fields are now heading those companies that allows them to use their expertise? Give us the number, their qualifications, professional backgrounds and evidence please!
In one occassion, one government MP even picked and choose the GLC he wanted to helm. That particular MP even resigned from the GLC which he didn't like and met the prime minister to discuss on the GLC of his personal choice so that he can be appointed to that. The lowest level of these MPs has come to such. GLCs are like piggy banks and ATM machines to these MPs.
Tengku Zafrul, if you are really unaware or just closing one eye on such, we wish to remind you again, only experienced and well-qualified professionals of their fields are able to provide check and balance on GLCs' performance. If you are not finding time to analyse on the "qualifications" of those government MPs, we are telling you that they are not qualified at all to take on those GLCs and to check on their performances-at-large.
One simple question here, who will then make sure that these MPs are in fact guiding these GLCs to the government's objectives and aspirations, and not into their personal bank account or any off-shore companies? Even the Auditor-General and the National Audit Department has to bow to the pressure of these government MPs in most of the time.
The Perikatan Nasional-helm rebel government is repeating the BN era's kleptocratic practice in stages right now. These government MPs are now finding tunes to make their way to get those cash out as quickly as possible before the 14th parliamentary tenure ends.
